swaledale by moonlight

yorkshire dales

A clear, late summer night in upper Swaledale, with the full moon rising and patches of mist just beginning to form in the valley. The scene was barely visible to the naked eye, but the long exposures gathered enough light to bring out the detail.

Two exposures were taken, 30s for the sky and 4 minutes for the ground, then combined to give a similar effect to a 3 stop grad filter (I always prefer filter technique in daylight but find this equivalent generally gives better low light results).
