burnt heather sunset
north york moors
I'd been exploring this area of the North York Moors on a dull, overcast evening and became drawn to the shapes in this patch of burnt heather. Out of the corner of my eye, I became aware of the sun breaking through to the ground in the distance, and over the course of twenty minutes or so, the light tracked across the land towards me. I set up this shot and waited.
Eventually the sun burst under the cloud layer, lighting it from below for just a few minutes before disappearing again behind a distant cloud bank.
